The course in history is about to change.
Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette is transplanted from her childhood home in rural France to the scientific and cultural splendor of Paris after marrying a wealthy Parisian writer known as Willy. Willy soon persuades Colette to ghostwrite for him. She writes a semi-autobiographical novel about Claudine, a funny and outspoken country girl who becomes a bestseller and literary phenomenon. Colette and Willy became the talk of Paris after their debut, and their exploits encourage more Claudine novels.
