Overview
The setting for this tale is a tiny town on the Hungarian Plain. In a rural town where the only thing that exists is snow. It’s bitterly cold outside, but there’s no snow. Hundreds of people are queuing outside the circus tent, which has been set up in the main square, to see the main attraction, a stuffed carcass of a live whale, as a result of their long wait. People are arriving from all around the world. From nearby settlements, and also from far-flung areas of the region. As a faceless, rag-wearing mob, they are chasing this stumbling beast. The odd state of affairs — the arrival of immigrants, the bitter cold — throws the tiny town’s order into disarray. The story’s ambitious characters believe they should take advantage of the scenario. The figure of the Prince, who is claiming to be faceless, causes the stress to reach a breaking point. His very presence is enough to set off a cascade of disruptive feelings…
