Overview

An elderly man and his only surviving parent in a rural French village cast covetous eyes on an adjacent abandoned farm. They depend on its spring water to cultivate their flowers, so they’re disappointed to learn that the man who inherited it is moving in. They obstruct the spring and observe as their new neighbor attempts to keep his crops irrigated from far-flung wells during the humid summer months. Despite the fact that his desperate actions are destroying his wellbeing and crushing the hearts of his wife and daughter, they are only concerned about having the water.
