There is a cost to any existence.
Tora Hamilton, a consulting physician, and her partner, Duncan, relocate to the isolated Shetland Islands, 100 miles off the north-east coast of Scotland, in the film Sacrifice. Tora finds the skeleton of a young woman with rune symbols etched into her flesh and a gaping void where her heart once pounded deep in the peat soil around her new house. Ignoring warnings to stay away, Tora discovers terrifying connections to a legend that could never have been contained inside the pages of a novel.
