Overview

A modest tax collector, Ning Tsai-Shen, appears in a small town to do his job. Since no one can offer him a place to stay for the night, he ends up in the haunted Lan Ro temple. He encounters Yen Che-Hsia, a Taoist swordsman, and Nieh Hsiao-Tsing, a stunning woman with whom he falls in love.
