Alex Sheldon (Luke Wilson), a novelist, has a month to complete his work. He would not be paid if he does not comply. And if that occurs, he’ll be pursued by enraged Mafia figures who owe him money. Alex recruits typist Emma Dinsmore (Kate Hudson) and starts dictating his book to speed things up. The story follows a doomed love affair between a character who resembles Alex and Polina Delacroix (Sophie Marceau). Alex’s career, though, takes a new turn when he falls for Emma.
