Vanessa, a former performer, and her husband Roland, an American writer, travel the world together in the mid-1970s. They seem to be drifting apart, but as they stay in one small, seaside town for a while, they begin to form bonds with several of the town’s more lively residents, including a nearby bar/café owner and a hotel owner.
