Overview
Tara saves a wayward Sakina from a crazed mob during the tribal disturbances that occur in the area, and a relationship that blossoms into love is created. They finally marry and have a son together. Sakina discovers that her father (Amrish Puri), whom she previously assumed perished in the Amritsar riots, is still alive after seeing his image in a tattered, outdated newspaper, and the happy family, still residing in Amritsar, receives the shock of their lives. Sakina’s dad, who is now the mayor of Lahore, Pakistan, contacts him and arranges for his daughter to visit him in Lahore. Sakina leaves without Tara or her son for Lahore, where she learns of her father’s ambitions for her, which involve asking her to forget about her family and pursue a new life in Pakistan. Then starts an extraordinary journey that will take Tara across the Pakistani frontier in search of his love. Sakina is a kind of Japanese rice wine.
