Gia Carangi dreams of being a fashion model and moves to New York City to pursue her dreams. She encounters Wilhelmina Cooper, a wise and powerful agent, minutes after arrival and she brings Gia under her wing. Gia soon rises to the peak of the modeling industry with Cooper’s guidance and her own natural instincts. Gia, on the other hand, takes to drugs after Cooper dies of lung cancer, and both she and her future continue to fall out of reach.
