Overview

Brian Jackson, a scholarship boy from seaside Essex with a passion of science for its own sake and a childhood spent viewing University Challenge, a college quiz show, enrolls at the University of Bristol in 1985, against the background of Thatcherism. He auditions for the Challenge team in Bristol and falls under the influence of Alice, a lovely blond with a long sexual history.
