Overview

1940 in France. Beautiful Lucile Angellier is stuck in a suffocating life with her controlling mother-in-law in the early days of the occupation as they all expect news of her husband: a prisoner of war. Thousands of Parisian refugees arrive in their tiny community, joined by a regiment of German soldiers who take up residency in the villagers’ houses. Bruno von Falk, the handsome and refined German officer who is living with them, is originally ignored by Lucile. But then, they are drawn together by a strong passion, which brings them into the horror of battle.
