Overview

Seibei Iguchi, a low-ranking samurai at the turn of the nineteenth century, has a tough life. Seibei, a widower with a modest pension, tries to provide for his two daughters and his senile mother. When the lovely Tomoe, a childhood acquaintance, returns into his and his daughters’ lives, new possibilities appear, but as the Japanese feudal order unravels, Seibei remains bound by the samurai code of honor and his own sense of social precedent. How would he be able to do what is right for everyone he cares about?
