Overview
In feudal Japan, a nameless ronin, or samurai without a boss, approaches a tiny village where two competing merchants are fighting for dominance of the local gambling trade. Using the alias Sanjuro Kuwabatake, the ronin persuades silk merchant Tazaemon and sake merchant Tokuemon to employ him as a personal bodyguard, then masterfully orchestrates a full-scale gang war between the two greedy and unscrupulous guys.
